Legal Services Facing a Big Budget Cut

The House and Senate appear to have met in the middle on 2012 funding for the Legal Services Corp, the nation’s largest funding source for civil legal aid to the poor.
Law Blog reported earlier this month that Senate and House were $96 million apart. House appropriators had pushed a bill that would shrink the organization’s budget to $300 million, from its current level of $398.1. The Senate approved a bill that would have clipped the 2011 level to $396 million.
