2010 California Pro Bono Conference

PIC and the PBCC look forward to working with all components of the California legal community to support and expand pro bono efforts at statewide, regional and local levels. Co-convened by the Public Interest Clearinghouse (PIC) and the State Bar Pro Bono Coordinating Committee (PBCC)

BACKGROUND: Multiple entities around the state work to support the use of pro bono services in key areas, including the State Bar's Standing Committee on Delivery of Legal Services (SCDLS), the Commission on Access to Justice, the Public Interest Clearinghouse, the Bay Area Pro Bono Roundtable, the national Association of Pro Bono Counsel, and various regional and bar association groups. In 2008 and 2009, a small group of State Bar staff, legal services providers and large law firm pro bono coordinators met to undertake strategic planning on the statewide pro bono delivery system. They developed the idea for this 2010 conference was developed at the summits, with the goal of expanding the training, resources, and discussion on key pro bono topics to all components of the California legal community.

GOALS: Trainings, Resources, and Discussion on Best Practices, Unmet Needs and Replicable Projects The Pro Bono Conference will convene with participants from all areas of the legal community for a full-day conference with trainings and discussions around topics specific to pro bono in California -- including best practices, unmet needs and replicable projects.
